Guest Lecture on Herbal Remedies and Food Supplements: An Interdisciplinary Approach to Healthcare

On Tuesday, 25th February 2025, Dr Tao Zhang organised and hosted an insightful guest lecture as part of the Introduction to Biopharmaceuticals module. We were delighted to welcome Dr Sabine Eggers once again for an engaging and thought-provoking session.

First-year students from the BSc (Hons) Pharmaceutical Healthcare (TU875) and BSc (Hons) Science (General Entry) (TU854) programmes explored the topic “Herbal Remedies & Food Supplements – An Interdisciplinary Approach to Patients' Well-being.”

As the fields of pharmaceuticals and biopharmaceuticals continue to evolve, important questions arise:

Dr Eggers’ session challenged students to rethink the role of natural resources in healthcare and explore how they can be integrated responsibly for long-term benefits. This interdisciplinary approach provided a valuable perspective on the intersection of traditional remedies and modern medicine.

A special thank you to Pharma Nord for their generous provision of complimentary supplements; your support is greatly appreciated!

This lecture was a fantastic learning experience, sparking insightful discussions on the potential of herbal and food supplements in health and patient care. We look forward to welcoming Dr Eggers again in the future!
