Transitioning from Linear to Circular Construction – Linear2C
Mr Tom Lundy and Dr Eric Bates recently travelled to Brussels to participate in the kick-off meeting for an exciting new Erasmus+-funded pan-European project. The project, which will run for the next two years, has partners from France, Lisbon, Belgium, and Italy.
The project entitled ‘Transitioning from Linear to Circular Construction’, or Linear2C for short, aims to place the construction sector in a circular economy mindset. The specific objectives are:
- Adoption of the circular economy by construction companies,
- Place the construction sector on a circular economy path,
- Design of precise micro-certificates, with their model and evaluation rules to guide their validation,
- Good practice checklist,
- Development of an App that brings together the results using an augmented reality approach.
Mr Lundy and Dr Bates will develop a catalogue of micro-credentials that can be offered to the construction industry. Speaking after the meeting, Mr Lundy commented, ‘Now more than ever, the construction sector has to move towards the circular economy and enhance green skills. Being involved in a European-wide project is exciting, and the opportunity for networking is fantastic.’
Linear2C runs for 24 months and is expected to conclude in October 2026.
