Fingal Chamber Welcomes Dr Pat O'Connor as President

Published: 24 Jan, 2025

Dr Pat O'Connor, Head of the School of Social Sciences, Law, and Education, has taken on the new role of President of the Fingal Chamber. Last week, Dr O'Connor chaired his first Chamber Council Meeting, marking the beginning of an exciting chapter in the university’s collaboration with the Chamber.

Fingal Chamber has long been a crucial stakeholder for TU Dublin, fostering strong connections with local industry and supporting the growth of start-ups in the region. Our partnership with the Chamber dates back to the Institute of Technology Blanchardstown (ITB) days, and today, it continues to play an integral role in the University's business-facing initiatives.

The Chamber has been instrumental in supporting start-up businesses and incubation spaces, such as the LINC on the university’s Blanchardstown Campus. Through a robust network and resources, Fingal Chamber and TU Dublin work together to nurture innovation and entrepreneurship, providing vital support to fledgling enterprises seeking to establish themselves in the competitive market.

Pat's extensive experience in higher education policy and community development positions him as a valuable addition to the Chamber's leadership team. With a deep understanding of Fingal's business and community landscape, Pat is poised to contribute significantly to the Chamber's mission of fostering a vibrant business environment.

Reflecting on his new role, Dr O’Connor remarked, "Contributing to both the Business and Community interests in Fingal is a privilege, and I am looking forward to my new role with Fingal Chamber through further building on the achievements of the Chamber to date and contributing to a vibrant business environment and a place for all to live and visit and enjoy."
