DIGI-paint – Learning, Teaching, Training Activity
The Digi-Paint project, which aims to plan and develop a number of resources that can be used by painting and decorating apprentices online, took part in a Learning, Teaching and Training event in June.
The event was hosted by Formedil, a Rome-based company, that is responsible for the promotion, application and coordination of national level training in the construction sector. The meeting involved all of the European partners plus guests interested in learning more about the Digi-Paint project and its potential usefulness in painting and decorating. The focus was on developing distance learning and utilising digital learning resources for apprentices in the industry.
As part of the learning activities, Epistemes, the French partner responsible for creating the immersive and virtual content, brought fully functioning VR sets for the partners to test out.
Representing TU Dublin, were Mr Tom Lundy from the Painting & Decorating section of the School of Architecture, Building & Environment and Dr Eric Bates. Mr Lundy can be seen trying out the VR set.
Afterwards, he remarked, ‘This has undoubted benefits for the educational sector and the painting and decorating industry. It is vital that we utilise these types of innovations in an ever-changing landscape of learning.’
The work package for TU Dublin involves the scripting of five real-life painting scenarios drawn from the curriculum of the European Qualifications Framework for Painting and Decorating.
The project continues to meet its deadlines and is on target for completion in September, with a final conference due to take place in Luxembourg.
