
Many congratulations to School of Transport and Civil Engineering student Conor O’Reilly and his supervisor Dr John O’Donnell on being awarded the Technician Prize at the recent Institution of Structural Engineers Annual Awards.
Conor’s thesis, “Temple Bar Square Improvement Scheme—Tapered T-beam Cantilever Design for a Sustainable Lighting Structure,” was selected as the best Level 7 project from Civil Engineering courses in the country.
Speaking of the award, Conor noted “I am truly honoured to receive this award for my final year project at Technological University Dublin. This achievement marks a major milestone in my career and reflects the incredible support of the university’s lecturers and staff. Their dedication experience.
Beyond academics, my time at TU Dublin has been transformative. I have developed lasting professional connections and friendships for life. Winning this award is a privilege, and I am proud to represent the university. The experience and knowledge gained here will stay with me throughout my career."
In another School of Transport and Civil Engineering success on the night, many congratulations to Patrick Crean who was awarded Fellowship of the Institution of Structural Engineers.
The FIStructE grade recognises members who make outstanding contributions to structural engineering, demonstrate exceptional commitment in industry or education through their leadership. Patrick demonstrated his technical expertise, his leading role on projects of international significance, and his inspirational teaching in order to be awarded the title.
