O’Connor Sutton Cronin (OCSC) Consulting Engineers sponsor student teaching aids
Mr Ian Crehan, Associate with O’Connor Sutton Cronin (OCSC) recently visited the School of Transport & Civil Engineering in TU Dublin to present new teaching aids kindly sponsored by the company. The new finger models help students better understand the movement of structures when subject to vertical and/or lateral forces.
Ian discussed the long history between TU Dublin and OCSC and referred to the many employees who are graduates of the School’s BE (Hons.) in Civil Engineering, BE (Hons.) in Structural Engineering and ME in Civil Engineering programmes.
Ian also highlighted the importance of students and graduates to understand how structures may react when subject to loading and gave examples of this is often the first step in any design. These new models will give students a physical demonstration of these movements, supporting the content delivered in lectures by academic staff.
The School are very grateful for the continuing support provided by OCSC through guest lectures, student involvement in their mentoring programme and employment opportunities following graduation.
