Dr Niamh O Reilly is Chartered Geomatics Surveyor and a lecturer with many years of academic experience delivering, developing and managing academic programmes at TU Dublin. She is currently the programme chair of the GIS CPD programmes and previously chaired the MSc in Geographic Information Science. Her main areas of expertise Geographic Information Science (GIS), Spatial Analysis and Geomatics. Her research focuses on Geospatial Infrastructures, spatial analysis, big data analytics and road safety.
Niamh is a graduate from the TU Dublin Geo Surveying and obtained her MSc in GIS from the University of Huddersfield, UK. Niamh was awarded her Doctor of Philosophy from TU Dublin, which focused on the evaluation road environment factors impacting cyclist safety in Dublin city using Geospatial solutions. Her research was funded by the Road Safety Authorities Helena Winters Scholarship for Doctoral Studies in Road Safety.
Niamh has previously chaired the SCSI Geomatics Professional Group and has been involved with the development of SCSI guidance documents. She was also part of a team developing new guideline document ‘Good Practice Guide for AA and SEA in the Energy Sector’ under EPA STRIVE Programme 2007-2013.
