Sirus Scholarships for Building Engineering Students 2024-25

TU Dublin School of Mechanical Engineering (Department of Building Engineering) were delighted to celebrate the Sirus Scholarship Programme for the 2024-2025 academic year.
The SIRUS Scholarship for Building Engineering students celebrates passionate and motivated students who will make their mark on the built environment. Introduced in 2017, the scholarship aims to encourage more students to consider the field of Building Engineering and to help meet the industry’s urgent recruitment needs.
Frank Caul and James Byrne (a TU Dublin graduate) joined forces in 1989 to form Sirus which operates across Ireland and throughout Europe, and employs over 120 people, many of them Building Engineering students from TU Dublin.

After an intensive application process followed by student interviews, the scholarship winners were announced at an awards ceremony in the Bolton Street campus in December 2024. Sirus awarded three 3rd year Building Engineering students an award of €2,000 each - Sean Fergus, Wardah Slaine Pratt and Nisha Gilbert.
Speaking at the awards ceremony, the winning students made the following comments:
Sean Fergus
“The scholarship means so much to me. It’s not just the financial support but also a recognition of all the hard work that I’ve been putting in. It motivates me to keep working towards my goals. I am grateful for the opportunity and will make the most of it by continuing to work hard”.
Wardah Slaine Pratt:
“Being awarded the Sirus Scholarship has been a tremendous support. Already, it has eased the financial stress of essential expenses such as transportation to college, course materials, and even medical surgery costs. This has allowed me to focus more on my education without the constant worry of balancing finances. I’m grateful for this assistance and excited to visit the Sirus sites to get a first-hand experience of the energy-efficient designs and installations”.
Nisha Gilbert
“Winning the 2024-2025 Sirus Scholarship is an incredible honour and a massive milestone in my academic journey. This award recognizes my hard work and dedication and provides me with the support and motivation to keep pushing forward.
The journey to this point hasn’t been easy, with many challenges, but this recognition makes it even more meaningful”.
