PhD Student Secures Third Place at the 27th Sir Bernard Crossland Symposium

PhD student Delara Soltani, supervised by Dr Sajad Alimohammadi of TU Dublin’s Mechanical Engineering School and Prof Persoons of Trinity College Dublin, achieved third place at the 27th Sir Bernard Crossland Symposium, held at Queen’s University Belfast on September 5th and 6th, 2024.

The event, hosted by the School of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering in association with Engineers Ireland and the Council of Professors of Mechanical Engineering in Irish Universities, brought together early-stage PhD students from across Ireland to present their cutting-edge research. The symposium, established in 1997, is a prestigious annual conference that highlights the best paper presentations and posters in the field of mechanical and aerospace engineering.

Soltani competed in the Best PhD Paper Presentation Competition with her research titled “Investigating the Effect of Adjacent Synthetic Jets on Fluid Flow Dynamics in a Microchannel.” Her presentation was recognised for its technical merit and outstanding presentation skills, standing out among many promising early-stage researchers.
