Automatic Plastics (APL) are a Comar company, delivering custom injection moulded parts in Ireland since 1972.
This enlightening plant tour facilitated TU701 students to get ‘beyond learning’ in the classroom, and to discover first hand the growing influence of Automation Engineering and Robotics in contemporary Irish industry. Staff from APL demonstrated the wide range of integrated Automation Engineering and Robotics technologies currently at use in their plant.
Students were furnished with greater context to their lecture and laboratory learning at TU Dublin. A presentation from Alex Rothwell (a TU701 graduate and Automation Engineer) gave students a concrete example of the career development path of an Automation Engineering and Robotics professional.
TU Dublin are grateful to Ciara Finnegan (HR Manager), Paul Byrne (Supervisor), Alex Rothwell and a number of other APL staff for the extent of the time afforded our TU701 students this year and for their ongoing multi-faceted engagement with the TU701 programme.
