Miriam Delaney is an architect and lecturer on the Bachelor of Architecture programme with experience teaching design, technology and history modules across all years of the course. She graduated from University College Dublin B.Arch in 2003 and worked in architectural practice in Zurich and Dublin before completing a Masters in Architectural History at The Bartlett, UCL in 2010, Miriam is a member of the RIAI since 2008, and is currently (2022) undertaking a PhD by prior publication through the School of Architecture TUDublin.
Miriam previously taught at University College Dublin and Queens University Belfast at undergraduate and Masters level before joining TUDublin (DIT) in 2012. She has acted as an invited critic, visiting lecturer and external examiner in many Irish and international schools of architecture.
Miriam co-authored ‘Studio Craft and Technique for Architects’ with Anne Gorman (2nd edition 2022) and has edited student publications including ‘Mapped’ (2017) a study of the planned villages of Ireland. She has published and lectured widely on the subject of Irish towns, engaging in public discourse through academic and mass media. This research interest led to her role as co-curator and commissioner of ‘Free Market’, the Irish National Pavilion at the 2018 Venice Architectural Biennale and the subsequent national tour in 2019. The ‘Free Market’ team was awarded the 2020 RIAI Research Award and a 2020 AAI Award for its work on rural town design and policy. Miriam has most recently been involved in political advocacy and as a consultant on rural town regeneration projects, one such project 'Lusk for Life: Lusk Vision 2030' (in collaboration with AP+E and Tara Kennedy) was shortlisted for the New European Bauhaus Awards 2022.
