Helen Murray is Senior Lecturer in Land and Coastal Zone Management, Land Administration, Spatial Data Management, Geodetic Surveying, Settlement Analysis and Professional Practice at undergraduate and post-graduate level within the School of Transport Engineering, Environment and Planning. Helen's diverse research interests include land/property and coastal governance, coastal zone management and the pivotal role that spatial information plays within these spheres, professional and technical standards, regulation and risk management. Further research interests include land/property governance, coastal zone management and the pivotal role that spatial information plays within these spheres, and these issues are central to her current PhD research study with the Environmental Sciences Research Institute, University of Ulster.
A Chartered Geomatics/Land Surveyor, Helen’s interests and expertise also include the development, regulation and management of professional and technical standards and to this end she has served on the RICS UK and Ireland Regulatory Sub Board (2013 - Oct. 2017), as a member on the RICS FIG (International Federation of Surveyors) Delegation on Commission 1 (Professional Standards and Practice), as a delegate to Commission 3 (Spatial Information Management), and a member of FIG’s Standards Network.
Since 2014, Helen has served as a member of the Board of the Property Registration Authority of Ireland (initially appointed through the Public Appointments Service, and re-appointed by Minister Eoghan Murphy T.D. in 2018).
