Dr Dermot Boyd is a Senior Lecturer in the Technological University Dublin. He was born in Belfast, Co.Antrim. He graduated with honours from Dublin Institute of Technology and Trinity College Dublin in 1990 after having completed a moderatorship in the History of Art at TCD in 1988. Following graduation he worked for Alberto Campo Baeza in Madrid and John Pawson in London before returning to Dublin in 1992.
In Dublin he spent several years working with McCullough Mulvin Architects where he was involved as project architect in the execution of a number of buildings associated with the Temple Bar Development Plan including the Music Centre and the Temple Bar Galleries. Other projects which he was directly associated with were the Model Arts Centre in Sligo and the new Ussher Library at Trinity College Dublin.
In 1996, Dermot received first prize in the AAI/FIS collaboration. He has been a member of the RIAI since 1997 and was a member of the Council of the RIAI in 1998. He was president of the Architectural Association of Ireland in 1997. He sits on the editorial board of the Irish Architect and the board of the Douglas Hyde Gallery. He is currently a studio tutor and lecturer at Technological University Dublin.
