Connie Broderick lectures in Painting & Decorating in the Dublin School of Architecture, TU Dublin, Bolton Street. He is a Chief Examiner for the Ireland Skills National Competition in Painting and Decorating.

Connie served his apprenticeship with Malachy J Ryan in Tipperary from 1972 to 1977 and was involved in all types of decoration including domestic, commercial and display work.

He studied Painting & Decorating in Bolton Street where he received the Department of Education Senior Certificate and City and Guilds of London Craft Certificate and Supplementary Studies in Painting and Decorating. He studied at the TU Dublin Learning and Teaching Centre where he successfully completed a Postgraduate Certificate and Postgraduate Diploma in Third Level Learning and Teaching. He has also attended drawing and painting courses at the National College of Art and Design.

Connie was employed by FAS Ballyfermot as a part time painting and decorating instructor and was a self employed Signwriter/ Painter and Decorator from 1983 to 2001. He is a Certified Advanced Installer / Instructor for Lincrusta wall coverings. He has also a worked as a Demonstrator for a number of Akzo Nobel products including Spray Painting Techniques, Sandtex Product Application, and Decorative Effects, Paints and Glazes.

At present he lectures in Painting and Decorating to apprentice decorators, preparation and paint application, visual effects to students studying Visual Merchandising, preparation and finishing to students studying Wood Manufacturing and Finishing, and preparation and finishing to students studying Timber Product Technology.

Connie was a member of the advising team for the Solas Painting and Decorating curriculum, with particular inout on curriculum learning outcomes, standards, skills and knowledge to achieve advanced Level 6 on the National Framework of Qualifications, and was involved in compiling a question bank for the phase 6 examinations “Painting and Decorating” theory and drawing final test papers for inclusion in the Solas “question bank”. He also featured in Commercial Transport Magazine Sept 1990 for Vehicle Art and Signwork and in Fleet Management Magazine May 1991 for Vehicle Art and Signwork.
