Dr Aidan Kenny is a Structured Lecturer in the Dublin School of Architecture and oversees our three apprenticeship programmes
He has been an academic staff member of the university from 1996 when it was then the Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT). Teaching on apprenticeship and undergraduate programmes in DIT and post graduate programmes in Trinity College Dublin as a guest lecturer.
Research interests include, education and training systems, approaches and practices, work-based learning, apprenticeship models, green skills, sustainability, organisation of work, qualifications frameworks and recognition of prior learning and industry.
He has managed and participated in numerous European Commission Erasmus+ strategic partnerships, study visits, peer learning activities and mobility projects.
He is a member of the European Alliance for Apprenticeship and the Teachers’ Union of Ireland, and has served on committees for DIT Academic Council, Quality Qualifications Ireland, and the Irish Congress of Trade Unions.
Dr Kenny holds a Doctor of Education Trinity College Dublin, a Master of Education, Training and Management Dublin City University, a Bachelor of Arts(hons) Dublin City University and a Postgraduate Diploma Employment Law University College Dublin.
He supports European cooperation including knowledge sharing initiatives, and values equality, diversity and inclusion in the university, workplaces, and society.
