Micromobility in Ireland: How can we ensure a successful outcome?
The rise of shared micromobility presents urban transport with the potential to offer more accessible and sustainable modes of transport to Irish cities and towns.
E-scooters, the fastest-growing mode of transport ever documented, are on the verge of being legalised in Ireland and opening up our cities to a multitude of e-scooter sharing companies. Yet despite the benefits and growing popularity of shared micromobility, these modes of transport have been misused in other markets and taken cities by surprise. This joint Transport Planning Society and Technological University Dublin event, chaired by Dr Lorraine D’Arcy of TU Dublin, examines how valuable micromobility could be to Ireland. Both panelists and speakers will outline the potential that micromobility has for our cities and how effective regulations, community engagement and urban infrastructure can play a part in a cleaner modal shift.
