Balcas Awards 2023
In December 2023 #Balcas, one of Ireland’s largest and most innovative wood product suppliers, returned to SABE for the second time to confer the Balcas Awards to students in our Timber Technology programmes. The awards are to students of each stage of a programme that demonstrated the greatest academic excellence in the previous academic year. Generously, a parchment and a cash gift are awarded by Balcas to each winner.
Managing Director Brian Murphy presented the awards and spoke passionately about standards and sustainability. He was impressed by the insights that each award winner shared from a particular module. We are delighted to announce that the winners for 2022-23 are:
The Balcas Award 2022-23 for Academic Merit in Year 1 of TU838 BSc (Hons) Sustainable Timber Technology is awarded to Úna Duffy by Brian Murphy (CEO of Balcas).
The Balcas Award 2022-23 for Academic Merit in Year 2 of TU838 BSc (Hons) Sustainable Timber Technology is awarded to Andrew Stenson by Brian Murphy (CEO of Balcas).
The Balcas Award 2022-23 for Academic Merit in Year 3 of TU732 BTech (Ord) Timber Product Technology is awarded to Brian O'Shea by Brian Murphy (CEO of Balcas).
