3D Rendering Workshop
On Thursday 20 October between 11.00-13.00 a recent M.Arch graduate, Alanna Brunton, will run a workshop in Studio 6A on: LiDAR scanning using KIRI Engine; and the use of Blender, an open-source 'all in one' 3D rendering software.
KIRI Engine is available on both iPhone and Android. Blender allows users to model from both scans and photographs. As well as being free it is very intuitive. Capturing textures and atmosphere very well, it enables a greater sense of detail and materiality to be included in drawings of existing buildings and hence is a useful tool in adaptive re-use.
More generally, it is a tool which brings the tangibility of the physical world into the digital space in which architects commonly design.
