Dr. Bianca Schoen-Phelan is a lecturer and researcher in the School of Computer Science at TU Dublin City Campus. Bianca holds a B.Sc. in Computer Science from the University of Applied Sciences, Darmstadt Germany, and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from University College Dublin. Bianca has previous industry experience as a technology consultant with Hewlett-Packard and software engineer with Sun Oracle, as well as strong research experience on geospatial topics. Bianca’s research interests are primarily in the areas of geospatial data, which includes airborne LiDAR data, satellite data and crowd-sourced data that contains geospatial components, as well as VR simulations of such. Furthermore, current research projects investigate machine learning and deep learning techniques on such data with a special focus on natural disaster analysis and management.
