Rossen Ivanov obtained his Diploma and MSc in Physics from the University of Sofia (Bulgaria) in 1995. There he completed a specialization in Nuclear and Particle Physics.

After three years of research at the Institute for Nuclear Research and Nuclear Energy in Sofia (Bulgaria), in 1998 he moved to a PhD programme at the National University of Ireland, Galway, a programme which he completed in 2002 with a PhD degree in Mathematical Physics.

Following several fixed term postdoctoral and lecturing positions in Dublin City University and Trinity College Dublin, in 2007 he was appointed as a permanent lecturer in Mathematics at Dublin Institute of Technology. He is a Honorary Professor since 2018.

His current research interests are in the area of Nonlinear Partial Differential Equations, Soliton Theory, Lagrangian and Hamiltonian Mechanics and Fluid Mechanics.
