In September 2016, Denise was delighted to be nominated and receive a Teaching Hero Award from the National Forum for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning in Higher Education and the Union of Students in Ireland. The Teaching Hero Awards are Ireland’s only national, student-led awards for all those who teach in higher education. There were over 800 nominees, and 33 recipients of the award. Denise’s students had nominated her for her creativity in the classroom and her adaptation to different teaching methods.
