School receives award at Athena Swan ceremony
The award ceremony for recipients of Athena Swan Awards was held at the Atlantic Technological University (ATU) in Castlebar, Co Mayo on Tuesday 8 November.
The School of Mathematics & Statistics received its Bronze Award, recognising its commitment to gender equality, at a gathering of Universities from across Ireland. The ceremony, hosted by Professor Yvonne Galligan, Director of EDI in TU Dublin and chair of the Athena Swan Ireland National Committee, was a hugely enjoyable occasion and Maev Maguire, Head of Discipline in the School of Mathematics & Statistics, accepted a handsome handmade glass vase trophy on behalf of the School.
The event was an opportunity to network with colleagues across higher education, all who have embarked with their institutions upon a gender equality journey, and to share insights and experiences. At the ceremony, TU Dublin also received its institutional award.
The School is proud to be one of the 114 Athena Swan award holders across Ireland and is especially proud of the hard work and commitment of its staff which resulted in this important award.
