Maths Eyes competition for International Day of Mathematics
March 14 is International Day of Mathematics. Inspired by one of the numerical representations of this date 3.14 (the first three digits of Pi), the day is a fun opportunity to draw attention to mathematics. Mathematics is everywhere and plays an important role in everyday life but, for one day, we ask everyone to celebrate all things maths.
The School of Mathematics & Statistics is very active in supporting mathematics initiatives and promoting mathematics throughout society. Everyone can enjoy mathematics and has mathematical ability. One of these initiatives is MathsEyes. MathsEyes highlights the connections that exist everywhere between maths and the real world and builds individuals' confidence in their knowledge and use of maths, opening the gateway for them to improve their maths confidence and skills.
For International Day of Mathematics for 2024, MathsEyes is running a competition. There are four prizes of €100 to be won for suggesting the most appropriate tagline for an image.
Please visit the MathsEyes site and check out the competition. The closing date is 22 March 2024.
