Mathematics students win awards as sustainable innovators
Two students of the programme, TU874 BSc Mathematical Sciences have each won an award for Leadership, Communication and Collaboration.
Mercy (Senziwa) Mulambia and Stephen Palminteri are third-year students of our full-time undergraduate programme in Mathematical Sciences. As part of this programme, students participate in a semester-long work placement. The work placement is an extremely valuable component of student development which allows students to gain the employment-sector experience and the important workplace skillsets that companies require and to apply their mathematical learning in a practical context.
As part of their work placement development, Mercy and Stephen worked in groups that tackled real-world enterprise challenges which were pitched by an industry partner. Both Mercy and Stephen, won an award for Leadership, Communication and Collaboration for their work via the Sustainable Innovators for Enterprise Programme, run by Convene. Mercy worked on a project with the ESB to promote their digital archives. Stephen worked with the Irish Exporters Association to generate more online sales and improve customer service.
