Mathematics graduates celebrate
The autumn graduation ceremony for the Faculty of Computing, Digital and Data took place on Saturday 4 November at which graduates of the School of Mathematics & Statistics received their awards.
The School of Mathematics & Statistics would like to congratulate all its graduates on their well-deserved awards. The awards are not only the culmination of hard work, perseverance and dedication to studying but also a testament to the talent and potential of each recipient.
The graduation ceremony took place in the newest building of TU Dublin, the Sports, Science, and Health Building in Tallaght. It was a fantastic venue for the celebration and the enthusiasm and joy of the many family members and well-wishers could not be dampened by the cold weather. The graduation saw graduates of the School's two full-time undergraduate programmes TU874 BSc Mathematical Sciences and TU873 BSc Industrial Mathematics, its part-time undergraduate programmes and a newly conferred doctorate for Joseph Cullen for his Doctor of Philosophy thesis entitled, Non-Linear Modelling of Internal Geophysical Waves, supervised by Prof Rossen Ivanov. Our graduates are already working in professional and technical sectors but many may return to engage with our range of postgraduate opportunities including the newly relaunched MSc in Applied Mathematics.
Following the graduation, the Head of School, Dr Chris Hills presented John M Forde medals. The first recipient Luke Murphy was unable to attend the graduation and the medal was accepted on his behalf by his mother. However, it was a special celebration for Kituru Maguire who not only received a Student Excellence award from the University for his outstanding academic performance but also the John M Forde medal in Mathematical Sciences for 2023. Kituru is a previous winner of the Hamilton Prize for Mathematics from TU Dublin.
The School is immensely proud of its students and their fantastic achievements. It would like to acknowledge the expertise and dedication of its staff in supporting and mentoring our graduates throughout their academic journeys. The School is certain that its graduates will make a significant impact on the future and hopes to keep in contact and hear from them as they continue to develop and contribute to the world.
