Published: 3 May, 2024

The School of Mathematics & Statistics was delighted to support Scifest once again: an exciting and enthralling day where Mathematics, together with Science and Technology, and their applications take centre stage.

Scifest@College took place on 3 May on TU Dublin's Grangegorman campus.

Over 100 of the country's brightest secondary school students had teamed up to work on 53 projects in the areas of Science, Technology, Mathematics and Computer Programming. This was their big day to present their work to TU Dublin's researchers and lecturers!

The School of Mathematics & Statistics continued its successful, annual involvement in the event. During the Welcome Address, a lecturer in the School, Dr John Butler spoke to the students about his cutting-edge research on Neuroscience and Machine Learning. The interactive talk was very well received by the enthusiastic students.

As part of the judging panel, Dr Blathnaid Sheridan, Dr Mercedes Jordan-Santana and Dr Nicole Beisiegel spent the morning talking to the students to discuss their work. It was an enjoyable morning for everyone and many inspiring conversations were held.

The School commends all participating students for their work over the past months and congratulates the well-deserved prize winners.
