Overview
I joined TU Dublin as a lecturer in 2016, having worked previously in the industry for 11 years as a Cisco technical solutions specialist. Having originally completed my own bachelor’s degree and masters in TU Dublin, I was drawn to come to work here as a way of “giving back” for the excellent education I received. The joy of imparting knowledge to others is what I love doing.
As a lecturer, I specialise in networking, network security and virtualisation but have also taught in other areas such as databases, web development and computer systems. I have also supervised several masters’ projects in cyber security. My own research interests also include cloud computing, IoT (Internet of Things), SDN (Software-Defined Networking) and data visualisation.
If there was one piece of advice I would offer students, it would be to fully embrace the benefits and the challenges of being a student. It is a short time in your life overall, but the rewards will stay with you throughout your journey.
Outside of work, I try to dedicate as much time as possible to my family and also enjoy both playing and watching football.
