Dr Ciarán O'Leary is the Head of Teaching and Learning for the Faculty of Computing, Digital and Data.

In this role, Ciarán has responsibilities relating to academic quality assurance; enhancement of teaching, learning and assessment; and public engagement and student recruitment.

Prior to joining the new Faculty of Computing, Digital and Data following its formation in 2022, Ciarán spend nine years as Head of Learning Development in the Faculty of Sciences and Health - which included the Computing discipline at that time.

From 2000 to 2012, Ciarán was a Lecturer and then a Senior Lecturer in the School of Computing.

Ciarán's research interests are primarily in the area of technology adoption and the formation and diffusion of digital practices.

Additional research interests are in educational research in Computing and in general, and Universal Design.

Outside of his academic work, Ciarán has a research interest in the history of sport, in particular the sporting culture in Dublin in the latter half of the nineteenth century.
