Ann is a Lecturer in the School of Hospitality Management and Tourism. She lectures in marketing, management and business studies in the hospitality, tourism, leisure and events area.
Ann has been lecturing with Technological University Dublin since graduating with an MPhil by research in Tourism Marketing (Consumer Behaviour) from the Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT) in 1999. She has a BSc Management from Trinity College, Dublin, combined with a Higher Diploma in Hospitality Management from DIT (1996).
In 2002 she graduated from Learning Teaching and Technology Centre with a Postgraduate Certificate in Third Level Learning and Teaching, followed by a Postgraduate Diploma in Third Level Learning and Teaching in 2003; a year later Ann graduated with a MA in third Level Learning and Teaching, 2004, following research into the phenomenon of attrition and retention rates on the BA Hospitality Management course. Ann is now the Programme Chair of the programme.
Ann completed her Doctorate of Education programme with the University of Sheffield, UK. She researched the effects of change on culture and identities via a case study of a higher educational institution undergoing transition.
Ann has also worked in the Irish hospitality sector for a number of years working at the Muckross Park Hotel, Killarney, the Great Southern Hotel group in Wexford and Galway, and with Trinity Accommodation and Catering Departments. She was sales and marketing representative for the ‘Be Our Guest Guide’ and market researcher with Bord Fáilte (now Fáilte Ireland) and the Tourism Research Centre. She spent many summers teaching English as a foreign language in both Dublin and Spain, to both students and business clients.
