Profile
Tom Cosgrove has lectured in film and screenwriting on the BA Film & Broadcasting, in the School of Media, TU Dublin since 2012.
After graduating film school in 2000, Tom Cosgrove began his professional career with RTE, the national broadcaster. He was then hired by the Irish Film Board to write and direct the short film All God's Children. Budgeted at €61,000, it was the first costume drama short film co-financed by RTE and the IFB. Building on the success of that film, and several commissions to write feature scripts, Tom was honoured with the Final Draft Big Break Screenwriting Awards in Los Angeles in 2006. That same year, he was commissioned by TG4 and the IFB to write and direct "Rogairi," an Irish language short with a budget of €85,000. Among more recent accomplishments, in 2020 he directed the feature film Hillwalkers, distributed on Amazon Prime.
