Profile
Nina Lyons is a graphic designer, interaction designer and developer, researcher and lecturer.
She holds an MA in Professional Design Practice and a Level-8 HDip in Computing from TU Dublin, an HCI Special Award from IADT and a B(Des) from the Limerick School of Art and Design.
Her previous industry experience includes a range of both national and international clients, and her work has been recognised internationally.
Nina has been lecturing at TU Dublin since 2019, having been awarded a scholarship as a full-time research student. She is currently pursuing a PhD entitled ‘SEFAR: Semiotic Evaluation For Augmented Reality’. Her research explores how visual communication theory principles can be used to create a framework to guide content creators and digital designers to design and build contextually engaging content for AR experiences.
She has written papers on her research for various conferences and has been published internationally.

Her current work includes teaching and project supervision for TU Dublin’s B.A. (Hons) Creative Digital Media, and M.A. in UX and Interaction Design.
Nina is interested in best practice teaching and pedagogy. She is especially interested in the presentation of information in a way that aids learners in their work – from blocking of content and creating web-based tools that transform passive content, through interactive tools, to exploring how different spaces can affect learning. From this research and observation, she engages in the development of teaching materials and tools that support learners. She has recently completed a Postgraduate Certificate in University Learning and Teaching and continues to engage in professional development in this area.
