Profile

Mark Shiels teaches on Creative Digital Media programmes in the School of Media, Blanchardstown Campus.

He holds an MA from London College of Communications, UAL, a diploma in Visual Communications from IADT and a Certificate in Design from Ballyfermot SC.

With over 20 years of experience in the industry, 15 of which were spent running his own studio, Mark has worked on global, national and local projects from publicly quoted companies to charities and arts organisations.

His professional practice offers him the opportunity to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders and disciplines. Practice-based research is key to Mark’s process, informed through critical reflection, analysis and synthesis. Continuing his work from his MA research into design thinking and processes. Mark looks to see how education and industry can be aligned to create innovation, engagement and positive contributions to society and culture.

 

Lecturing Profile

Mark teaches on undergrad and postgraduate courses, level 7/8, Creative Digital Media and level 9, Masters in UX, both on Blanchardstown Campus.

Mark currently delivers: Design Process and Practice (CDM), Branding Identity Design (CDM), Graphic Communication (UX) and Interactive Design Fundamentals (UX). Mark has previously delivered Digital Marketing (CDM). Mark also supervises final year students as well as professional and group project modules. (CDM).
