Profile
Marina Hughes lectures in film and broadcasting programmes in the School of Media. She studied Law at Trinity College Dublin and qualified as a barrister at Kings Inns, Dublin. She also studied Production at Media Business School (Madrid), holds an MSc from University College Dublin, and is currently completing her PhD under the supervision of Prof Brian O’Neill at TU Dublin.
She worked in the area of corporate and international trade law, prior to co-founding the film production company Venus Productions. She joined Fourth Wall Films in 2021. From 2016 -2020 she was Visiting Professor at University Babes Bolyai , (UBB) Cluj, Romania where she also taught producing at the Atelier De Film, with the Berlinale award winning writer/directors Radu Jude and Adrian Sitariu.
Her feature film productions have been presented at festivals such as Sundance Film Festival, Seattle Film Festival, BANFF Canada, Karlovy Vary Film Festival and London Film Festival.

She was the first Irish nominee for the European Film Promotion's Producers on the Move initiative at Cannes Film Festival 2000, and was invited to join the European Film Academy. She chaired the Junior Dublin Film Festival and served on the Advisory Board of the Industry training body, Screen Training Ireland.
