Profile
Irene McGinn is a lecturer in Creative Digital Media at TU Dublin.
She holds an MA in Film and Television studies from DCU, a Graduate Certificate in Software Systems and New Venture Creation from DCU, and a BA (Hons) in Communications and Creative Multimedia from DKIT. She has been recognised both nationally and internationally for her work at undergraduate level.
Irene has been teaching since 2013, and has been with TU Dublin since 2019. Prior to this she was a graduate researcher at the Interactions Lab in the University of Bath, UK.
Her current research interests include media and audience studies, affect and intimacy in online media, and collective action in digital communities.
Lecturing Profile
Irene is enthusiastic about best practice in teaching and pedagogy. She has a Postgraduate Certificate in University Learning and Teaching from TU Dublin and continues to engage in professional development in this area.
Throughout teaching she has developed and delivered content in numerous areas within the field of Creative Digital Media. These include taught modules in the areas of

- Visual communications
- Web design
- Web and multimedia development and
- Critical theory,
as well as supervision of group projects, professional projects, final year projects, and individual theses at postgraduate level.
Irene is a facilitator for the National Forum Digital Badge in Universal Design for Learning and an active member of a working group on Universal Design for Learning.
