Dr Claire Buckley holds a BA in Italian, French and European Studies, a Masters in Italian and a PhD in Italian which were all completed at University College Cork. She also has a Diploma in Teaching Italian as a Foreign Language from the Università per Stranieri “Dante Alighieri” di Reggio Calabria. Claire conducted research for her PhD in Italian literature under the guidance of Dr Silvia Ross in the Italian Department in UCC. Her research interests focus primarily on issues of gender and space in Italian literature and the title of her doctoral thesis is “Wild Woman: Representations of Female ‘Deviance’ in Contemporary Italian Fiction". She has been teaching languages since 1995 and has worked at a number of institutions in Italy, Australia and Ireland. At TU Dublin, she teaches Italian language, literature, current affairs and Italian for Singers.

Contemporary Italian literature, gender and space in fiction, Italian women writers, political violence in Italy.
