Niall Murphy joined TU Dublin in 2020 from KWETB where he delivered the National Commis Chef Apprenticeship Programme. He changed his career in 2010 to retrain and follow his passion and interest in food. Niall trained both nationally and internationally before returning to Ireland and to part-time education while working in industry.

He completed a BSc in Culinary Arts and Food Science and an MSc in Food Innovation and New Product Development. Niall continued his studies to complete a second Masters in Educational Practice in 2021. He published his first cookery book in 2018.

Niall works as a volunteer with a number of national organisations supporting individuals embarking on significant career change and speaks at conferences sharing his experience of change. He is also a great supporter of National Food Festivals and is often seen giving live cookery demonstrations.

Niall’s philosophy of teaching and learning is underpinned by his extensive commercial experience with his love of food to create a fully supported environment that offers equal opportunities for learners of all abilities to flourish and succeed.
