James is a lecturer in Marketing and other business studies modules and has over 20 years’ experience in teaching and research in the School of Culinary Arts and Food Technology at TU Dublin. He is the current programme Chair of the Higher Certificate in Bar & Restaurant Management. His Undergraduate and Master qualifications are both in the areas of business studies and marketing. He also possesses a master’s degree in Higher Education. Prior to his role in academia, he worked for many years in various roles in the Irish food and retail industries.

As well as being an external examiner to other colleges, James also acts as an adviser to many beverage companies and licensed trade associations. A regular contributor to broadcast, print and social media outlets on matters relating to Irish pubs, James also undertakes ongoing research on Publicans and the licensed trade in Ireland.
