TU Dublin Culinary Arts Student Chefs Win Multiple Awards at Chef Ireland Culinary Competitions at CATEX 2025
TU Dublin School of Culinary Arts and Food Technology are proud to share that 10 of our student chefs participated and won multiple awards at The CATEX Chef Ireland 2025 Culinary Competitions hosted by The Panel of Chefs of Ireland & The Irish Foodservice Suppliers Alliance (IFSA).
This year marked the 60th Anniversary of CATEX and Chef Ireland Culinary Championships. This major culinary event affords chefs throughout Ireland the opportunity to display their exceptional culinary skills, creativity, innovation and techniques.
The First Year TU 942 Culinary Arts student chef winners included:
- Evan Darcy - Silver and overall winner of the chicken for sauté competition.
- Samantha McCarron - Silver and third place in the chicken for sauté competition.
- Yang Li - Silver in both the chicken for sauté competition and in the Irish fish filleting larder skills and cookery competition.
- Cian Tully - Merit in the pasta competition and silver in the Irish Fish filleting Larder skills and cookery competition.
- Nam Phuong- Gold in the Irish fish filleting Larder and cookery competition.
- Aldrin Omaña - Silver in both the Irish pork competition and the Asian Ethnic Cuisine competition.
- Ban Lawless - Silver in the Riso Gallos Young Risotto Chef of the year competition.
- Daniel McGlynn - Gold and overall winner in the Riso Gallos Young Risotto Chef of the year competition (as the winner, Daniel will go on to compete in the Riso Gallo UK and Ireland Young Risotto Chef of the Year 2025 Competition in Tottenham on the 2nd of June this year)
The Fourth Year TU 942 Culinary Arts student chef winners included:
- Alanna Moffitt and Nathan Maher -Silver Medal in the Mystery Basket competition
Nathan Maher - Silver and class winner for the Senior Pasta competition.
