MMus Hons (Perf) BEd Dip Vocal Teaching

‌Toni Walsh is an award-winning graduate of DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama where she studied with Mary Brennan and Alison Young (Repetiteur). More recently she has graduated with an honours Masters Degree (MMus Perf) working with Mary Brennan and Mairead Hurley (2008).

Operatic Roles at the National Concert Hall include Annina in Verdi’s La Traviata; Inez in Verdi’s Il Trovatore and the Mother in Menotti’s Amahl and the Night Visitors.  Toni has also appeared in the NCH Summer Opera Series playing leading roles in Operatic Scenes, including Dorabella in Mozart’s Cosi fan tutti and Rosie McCann in A.J. Potter’s modern Opera The Wedding.  She has toured with Opera Theatre Company in their revival tour of Love Potion based on Donizetti’s l’Elisir d’Amore.

Oratorio work has taken her to Paris where she has performed Handel’s Messiah. At home, as well as Messiah, she has sung in Mozart’s Requiem, Vespers and Great Mass in C minor, Vivaldi’s Gloria, Handel’s Judas Maccabaeus, Brahms’ Requiem, Hayden’s Stabat Mater and Little Organ Mass.

Recitals/Concerts: Toni has given solo recitals and concerts throughout Ireland including the Bank of Ireland Arts Centre, the National Concert Hall and the Hugh Lane Gallery and has been guest soloist with various Choral societies.  Her song recitals have included Lieder, French and Spanish Songs, Operatic arias and songs from the vast English and Irish repertoire.  Toni has also performed John Buckley’s Haiku Seasons, a work for Choir, Piano and Soprano, in Ennis, Co Clare, Boyle, Co Roscommon, and the NCH in Dublin.  She also performed Buckley’s Abendlied, in Tralee, Co. Kerry.

She was a guest soloist at the inaugural Gala concert of the Anna Livia International Opera Festival at the Gaiety Theatre.  She has also appeared as guest soprano soloist in “The Magic of Opera” at the National Concert Hall, conducted by Fergus Sheil.

Toni has collaborated with traditional musician Cormac Breathnach and harpist Áine Ní Dhubhghaill in concert performances.

Educational Work: Toni also played a significant part in an innovative project involving the Midlands Health Board and Music Network which brought music into healthcare environments of the Midlands region:  Music Network Concert Series (1999) Pilot Project (2000) Training Workshop (2000) Work within the Midlands Healthboard area (2000-04).  Toni has also given Music Association of Ireland (MAI) workshops with schools groups (Co. Clare and Co. Roscommon) and worked with a facilitation team for Composers workshops with Kerry Arts Council led by John Buckley.  She is currently part of the Music Generation Wicklow team of tutors.
