Soprano Derval O’ Sullivan is an honours graduate of Trinity College Dublin and DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama.  She has lectured in the Department of Vocal Studies and Drama since 1994.  To date many of her students have gone on to have successful careers at home and abroad.

Derval has performed extensively throughout Europe and America.  She combines regular performances with TV and radio recording work.  One of her most memorable performances was singing onboard the American Destroyer USS The Sullivans.  Of the many accolades she has received she is particularly proud to be the recipient of the key to the city of Memphis, Tennessee.

Derval is also active as a composer, conductor and accompanist.  She performs music of all styles from classical to traditional to popular.  She is particularly interested in the role of the Alexander Technique for all musicians and its implications for singers and actors in particular.  From a purely academic perspective, her main interest is Viennese Opera of the late 18th and early 19th centuries.
