A graduate of UCD, Siobhán Kilkelly joined the keyboard department in 1989 and became a full time member of staff in 1999. She studied piano with Anthony Glavin and Mabel Swainson, and organ with John Dexter and Peter Sweeney. As pianist and organist she has worked and performed with many choirs and instrumentalists, been an organ scholar in St Patrick’s Cathedral and Trinity College and given organ recitals in Ireland and UK.  

In 2006 she graduated with an MMus from DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama, specialising in the subject of organ composition and performance in 19th century France. Studying with Dutch organist Ben van Oosten, her study traced the development of the style from the music of Alexandre Boely to Charles-Marie Widor with a research project focusing particularly on the keyboard music of Alexandre Boely.

In recent years Siobhán has collaborated in organ performance with other instruments. In March 2011 she combined with harpist Anne-Marie O Farrell and performed in the Celtic Prelude concert in Dudelange in Luxembourg. Recent concerts have featured exploration of the repertoire for organ and flute with flautist Ciarán O Connell. To date the duo has performed in concert series in St Michael’s Church Dun Laoghaire, Galway Cathedral, St Mary’s Pro-Cathedral Dublin and Limerick Cathedral as well as occasional concerts in Dublin’s Sandford Parish Church and St Stephen’s ‘the Peppercanister’. As a piano teacher she maintains an active interest in current developments in pedagogy and performance. Attendance in recent years at summer schools in Nice and Oxford have helped maintain an active interest in approaches to teaching and knowledge of current trends.  Especially worthwhile has been the introduction to Alexander Technique and Body Mapping - how musicians use knowledge of movement to secure and enhance performance.  More recently with Catherina Lemoni-O Doherty she is involved in encouraging early piano ensemble playing and improvisation and is currently working on improvisation with young pianists in the keyboard department as a supplement to their regular tuition.

Her students range from beginner to masters level and have enjoyed success at competition level and on the concert platform.
