Dr Julie Maisel joined the DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama, now the TU Dublin Conservatoire, in 2005.
She received her Doctorate of Music and Master of Music in Performance from Florida State University, and her Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Southern Mississippi. In addition to lecturing in flute, she serves as the MMus Programme Chair and the Erasmus Academic Exchange Coordinator for the TU Dublin Conservatoire.
An active soloist and chamber musician, Maisel has performed in London, Sweden and throughout Ireland, and the US and has worked with the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra, the Pro Arte Orchestra, the Opera Theatre Company, the Irish Film Orchestra, the Dublin Sound Lab, and the Irish Baroque Orchestra. Performances have included St. Martin-in-the-Fields (London), the NCH John Field Room, Kaleidoscope Music Series, Castleknock Music Festival, Castletown Music Series, and Lunchtime Concerts in Hugh Lane Gallery. She has also performed in the 2013, 2018, 2020, and 2025 National Flute Association Conventions. In 2018 she released her debut CD, Flute Music of Luigi Zaninelli.
Committed to music education and professional development, Julie has facilitated the National Youth Orchestra of Ireland Audition Training Workshops and served as an adjudicator for competitions including the Yamaha Winds and Brass Scholarship Finals, Castleknock Music Festival, Wesley College Interschools Music Festival, and British Flute Society Competitions.
She serves as chair of the National Flute Association Gala Awards Reception for the National Flute Association, is a member of the British Flute Society Council, and a Board Member and Assistant Secretary for The Flutopia Initiative.
Her published output can be found in professional journals such as, Flute Talk and Flutist’s Quarterly.
