Conor McGarrigle is an artist, researcher, and lecturer in Fine Art working primarily with digital media. His practice is characterised by urban interventions mediated through digital technologies and data-driven explorations of networked social practices. Projects include the creation of deliberately biased artificial intelligence, generative video installations based on 24 hours of social media, and data-driven augmented reality mobile apps.

He has exhibited internationally including the Venice Biennale, the St. Etienne Biennale, Fundació Miro, SIGGRAPH, Site Santa Fe, FILE São Paulo, EVA International, and Science Gallery Dublin and Detroit, and the Green on Red Gallery Dublin.

His research has been widely presented including at the Centre Pompidou Paris, Computer Art Congress, Pact Zollverein, College Arts Association, SIGGRAPH, published as book chapters by Routledge, Springer, and Blackdog, and in journals such as Visual Resources, International Journal of Performance Art and Digital Media. Leonardo Electronic Almanac, and Digital Creativity. He is a member of the Editorial Board for Public Art Dialogue Journal (Routledge, 2021-2024).

Artificial intelligence and machine learning; including AI ethics and machine creativity
Critical understandings of place and space under platform capitalism; including locative media, augmented reality and contemporary re-framings of psychogeography
Developing for critical artistic methodologies for engagement with big data, social media and machine learning
Histories of art and technology
Critical code and software studies, maker cultures and evolving notions of the post digital
Infrastructural studies and the materiality of network practices
Practice-based research in new media art
