Dr. Brian Fay lectures in Fine Art and Visual Culture. His practice, rooted in drawing, uses the materiality of pre-existing artworks and objects to examine their complex relation to time. Recent exhibitions include To Something that went before (CSdeK), Oonagh Young Gallery, Dublin, After Vermeer: Inspiration and Rivalry, National Gallery of Ireland, Dublin Broken Images or When does Posterity Begin?, Ashford Gallery, Royal Hibernian Academy, Dublin, Motion Capture: Drawing and the Moving Image, Lewis Glucksman Gallery, Cork, Projet Gutenberg, Galerie Jeanroch Dard, Paris, France, Fine Lines: a selection from the National Collection of Contemporary Drawing, Limerick City Gallery of Art and Other Men’s Flowers, Dublin City Gallery: The Hugh Lane.
He completed a practice led PhD at Northumbria University on Drawing, Temporality and the Museum. His work is in the National Drawing Collection, The Crawford Art Gallery, The Office of Public Works and many private collections. He is a Board Member of the Lewis Glucksman Gallery, UCC and the Royal Hibernian Academy School.
