Virtual and Augmented Reality in Cultural Heritage Presentation and Preservation
Virtual and Augmented Reality technologies opened new horizons in preserving and presenting cultural heritage.
Using these technologies, we can now experience cultural heritage by visiting and interacting with 3D reconstructions of cultural monuments populated by people who used to live there. We can become participants in historical battles and other important events that happened in the past. Museum exhibitions get new digital content that adds non-existent dimensions of physical displays - historical context and interaction with exhibits. Archaeological locations and sites can now be explored with better understanding thanks to AR applications showing parts of the sites that cannot be seen.
Prof Selma Rizvic will visit TU Dublin on Monday, 06 March, at 12pm to present the digital heritage projects of the Sarajevo Graphics Group laboratory from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Sarajevo, one of the most relevant research groups in this field in Europe.
