Society for Learning Analytics Research (SoLAR) Conference

The 15th International Conference on Learning Analytics & Knowledge (LAK25) takes place in Dublin, March 3rd to 7th. As the highest ranked education technology conference, and the only conference ranked in the top 20 Google Scholar citations for educational technology, this premier event's first Irish outing brings together almost 500 leading international researchers, practitioners, and educators to explore the transformative impact of data analytics on teaching, learning and development.
Led by the Society for Learning Analytics Research (SoLAR) and hosted by TU Dublin at the Royal Dublin Convention Centre, the event is supported by the Open University UK and Trinity College Dublin, in collaboration with Meet in Ireland.
A Dynamic Programme The conference features a comprehensive programme Monday to Friday, including keynote presentations, paper sessions, workshops and interactive panels. Renowned experts will share insights on the latest trends and future directions in learning analytics, including:
- Professor Inge Molenaar exploring the role of artificial intelligence in education, emphasizing the potential for hybrid human-AI collaboration in her keynote address. Inge is Director of the National Education Lab AI (NOLAI) and Professor of Education and Artificial Intelligence at the Behavioural Science Institute, Radboud University, Netherlands.
- Professor Gautam Biswas is presenting systematic approaches based on self-regulated learning (SRL) and socially shared regulation of learning (SSRL) frameworks to analyze and interpret students' collaborative behaviors in STEM environments in his keynote. His research employs a multi-step human-in-the-loop framework to interpret multimodal behavior, collaborating with learning sciences and education researchers to develop temporal representations for visualizing and interpreting key learning events. Gautam is a Cornelius Vanderbilt Professor of Engineering at Vanderbilt University, specializing in AI and Machine Learning.
- The local organising committee – Dr Geraldine Gray (TU Dublin), Dr Kevin O’Rourke (TU Dublin), Dr Markus Hofmann (TU Dublin), Dr Ana Schalk (TCD), Dr Rob Lowney (DCU) and Dr. Angelica Risquez (UL) – will host an engaging panel session on Leveraging Learning Analytics in Higher Education: Opportunities, Challenges, and Risks. Panelists include
- Prof Stephanie Teasley, University of Michigan,
- Dr Isabel Hilliger, Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile,
- Alan Berg, University of Amsterdam and SURK/Npuls,
- Dr Fun Siong Lim, Nanyang Technological University Singapore
