Young Reporters for the Environment Competition 2024
The Young Reporters for the Environment (YRE) competition is for students aged under 25 to research environmental issues and promote solutions through journalism. Registrations for the YRE Competition 2024 are now open.
The purpose of the competition is for students to investigate environmental issues, propose solutions, report it through various journalistic content – articles, photo reportage or video and raise awareness by sharing it with an international community.
Registration is free and allows for access to 3 lunchtime journalistic skills based webinars between now and March as well as entry to the annual competition in end of March 2025. The first webinar on article writing will take place during Climate Action week on 17 October from 1-2pm.
Shortlisted students will be invited to take part in a national awards ceremony in May 2025 where the winners will be announced, sharing in a prize fund of over €1,500. The overall winner will go on to represent Ireland in the international YRE competition in June. Last years’ winner was even featured on RTÉ News making this a great opportunity for students to give their environment a voice!
