TU Dublin is Switching off for Summer

Published: 29 Jul, 2024

As part of the ‘TU Dublin is Switching Off’ campaign, TU Dublin is calling on all students and staff to switch off all appropriate campus equipment and energy consuming resources before finishing up for the August Bank Holiday weekend. Please look around your work or study area to see what can be safely switched off. This important call-to-action is a response to ease pressure on the national grid and support the ‘Reduce Your Use’ government policy for reducing energy consumption. We also encourage the TU Dublin community of students and staff to take the opportunity to ‘switch off’ screens and digital devices and to mind our mental and physical health during the long weekend.

Take Action

Please take the time to actively switch off any device or piece of equipment which does not need to be kept running. These actions should include:

*Be mindful for the potential for some freezers to defrost and leak, click here for tips on cleaning out and turning off cold storage appliances.

Reduce your Use

In June 2024 TU Dublin used 984,671KWhs of energy across all campus locations, a 7% decrease from June 2023. With the help from students and staff, we aim to further reduce our energy use in the month of August and continue this trend as we transition towards net zero. Thanks to all involved at TU Dublin to #ReduceYourUse.
