RSA visit TU Dublin for Vision Zero road safety event

Published: 17 Feb, 2025

The Road Safety Authority (RSA) will join TU Dublin for a Vision Zero road safety event on 27 March, at TU Dublin's Grangegorman campus.

Students and staff can visit the information stands to learn about road safety and Vision Zero targets.

The activity will host interactive demonstrations, activities and giveaways. Participants can have a go wearing drunk impairment goggles (also known as beer and drug goggles or drunk glasses) which simulate the effects of being drunk or on under the effects of drugs. The effects of the goggles include confusion, visual distortion, slowed reaction time and lack of coordination, highlighting the road safety hazards which exist when under the influence of drugs and or alcohol.

As part of the activity, TU Dublin's Smarter Travel programme and TU Dublin's Healthy campus will join the information stands promoting resources, events and information.

Shared Impact

SDG 3 SDG 11

TU Dublin Operations & Services (within Campus & Estates) together with Sustainability coordinate a series of health and safety activities on campus. Activities like Crime Prevention Clinics and RSA events support students and staff at TU Dublin and members of the wider campus community to feel safer and help them to access services coordinated by partners such as the RSA and the Community Policing Team (CPT).

TU Dublin work in partnership with Community Gardaí and the RSA, with a particular focus on United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3 Good Health and Well-being, and 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities.
