National Spring Clean Litter Picking on campus

Published: 24 Feb, 2025

An Taisce's National Spring Clean, is Ireland's largest anti-litter campaign taking place annually in April. The initiative supports communities to come together to rid Irish streets, campuses, parks, and coastlines from litter. In 2024, the campaign saw the removal of an estimated 47,500 tonnes of litter, thanks to over 12 million volunteer hours.

Campuses across TU Dublin can be quieter in April because of Spring Break, so instead, TU Dublin will support National Spring Clean in the month of March as part of Green Week and Marchathon

Three ways to get involved this March:

1. Blanchardstown Litter picking event, Monday 10 March, 1 - 1:45pm - focus on the litter black spot by the pond and the bus terminus - meet at Green Week stand in Aras Croí, foyer at 1pm. Full kit provided with health and safety briefing - Sign up here.

2. During TU Dublin Green Week, the Sustainability Team will host a Green Week roadshow of stands at each campus between 12-2pm on the below days and locations - here, students and staff can collect a litter pick pack and take part in a lunch time litter pick.

3. Throughout the month of March, as part of Marchathon, students and staff can take part in self directed litter picking walks on campus. litter pick packs will be available for borrowing at each campus in the below locations
